Sweco Denmark is an integrated architecture and engineering firm that, together with our clients and partners, develops projects that transform the cities and societies of the future, with a strong focus on the green transition. We aim to address the biodiversity crisis, resource scarcity, and the climate crisis.
We see, incorporating sustainable solutions into our clients’ projects, as a natural part of our advisory services.
Our consultancy spans a wide range of areas; from large-scale water and energy projects to efficient and environmentally friendly transport solutions, urban and green space development, as well as the design and transformation of current and future buildings.
We strive to be committed and present in our collaboration with clients. That’s why we are organised in a decentralised structure, close to our clients and projects, where decisions are made locally by those who know the clients and the projects best.
What makes your company an exciting place for students to kickstart their careers?
We offer comprehensive development programs, mentors, and access to exciting projects that enable students to gain practical experience and to grow quickly in their careers. Additionally, our open and inclusive work culture is ideal for young talents.
What advice would you give to students who want to work with you?
Be proactive and engaged. Show initiative and a strong interest in your field. Don’t be afraid to ask questions – we value curiosity and the ability to find creative solutions.
How can a new employee make a unique impact on your company from day one?
A new employee can make an impact by bringing fresh perspectives and ideas, actively participating in discussions and projects, and taking initiative to improve and develop new solutions. We value new energy and innovation. Additionally, we see great value in employees taking responsibility not only for their projects but also for building a positive collegial environment.
How do you celebrate successes, big or small, within your company?
At Sweco, we believe that success is created together and should be celebrated together. We recognise both individual and team achievements through our internal communication channels, where we share success stories and highlight great results. In day-to-day life, we mark smaller wins with things like a shared coffee break or cake, while larger milestones are celebrated with more formal events such as receptions or company gatherings. In this way, we make sure to say ‘well done’ in the everyday moments, while also creating a clear and meaningful framework around the major achievements that drive us forward.
If your company could collaborate with any famous person or organization (alive or dead), who would it be and what would you achieve together?
We would like to collaborate with Leonardo da Vinci. He combined creativity, science, and engineering in a way that continues to inspire even today. Together, we could explore new ideas and solutions that unite aesthetics, technology, and functionality – exactly what we strive to do through our integrated consultancy, where creativity, design, and engineering go hand in hand to shape the sustainable cities and societies of the future.
What’s the least glamorous part of working at your company?
The least enjoyable part is probably that it can be hard to explain to family and friends what you actually do – because we work on so many different projects that “I build sustainable cities” quickly turns into a half-hour presentation. Also, sometimes the cake at the Friday meeting is just way too good, which makes it a bit challenging to stick to healthy habits.
What are you most proud of when it comes to your company’s work culture?
At Sweco, we are especially proud of our culture, where trust, responsibility, and collaboration go hand in hand. We empower our employees to take ownership and explore solutions together – across disciplines and national borders. This creates a daily environment where people experience great professional pride, a strong sense of community, and a culture that brings out the best in each other. We believe that it is this very combination that enables us to create solutions that truly make a difference for society and the green transition.
How do you tackle challenges you meet?
We always strive to solve challenges together through open dialogue and collaboration. It is important to us that we navigate challenges constructively and come out stronger on the other side.
