Education Esbjerg serves as a bridge between students, educational institutions, businesses, and Esbjerg Municipality. Since January 2020, our focus has been on promoting Esbjerg as an attractive city for education and student life.
Our mission is to attract young people to study and settle in Esbjerg through the E.1 concept. We create well-being for students by fostering communities and implementing a digital platform that supports hybrid learning. We also strengthen educational offerings through close collaboration with the business sector.
Our vision is for more graduates to pursue careers in Esbjerg and the surrounding area. We facilitate connections between students and local companies to ease the transition from education to working life. Our board consists of representatives from the business community, educational institutions, and the municipality.
How can a new employee make a unique impact on your company from day one?
By approaching tasks and challenges with curiosity and a positive mindset, you can make a meaningful impact from day one. Don’t hesitate to ask questions and share your ideas!
What’s the least glamorous part of working at your company?
Things can move quickly at times, as we’re a growing and dynamic company. As a student assistant, you might occasionally feel like you don’t get to contribute as much as you’d like before a task has evolved or been completed while you were busy with your studies.
How do you tackle challenges you meet?
We talk openly about the challenges we encounter. By sharing knowledge, we find solutions or take action to prevent similar issues in the future. We carry our experiences forward and use them to become even better!
What makes your company an exciting place for students to kickstart their careers?
As a student, you’ll quickly take on real responsibility and have the opportunity to influence your tasks — from concept development to evaluation. You become an integrated part of the workplace, included in collaboration across departments, where you’re not seen as “just” a student. You’ll have the freedom to shape your own assignments and learn how to reflect, evaluate, and contribute with the skills you already bring with you. There are also great opportunities for sparring and learning from experienced colleagues, offering both professional growth and a strong network.
How do you celebrate successes, big or small, within your company?
Whether it’s a big win or a small achievement, cake and high-fives are often part of the celebration. For the bigger successes, we like to treat ourselves with a gift — for example, a gift basket.
If your company could collaborate with any famous person or organization (alive or dead), who would it be and what would you achieve together?
Andreas Mogensen: Chase your dream and don’t let anyone tell you that you can’t! Together, we would create purpose — and we wouldn’t stop for anything.
What advice would you give to students who want to work with you?
Be curious, open-minded, and confident in what you bring to the table. Feel free to draw on your experiences from your studies, previous jobs, or personal life. Be ready to embrace new challenges and opportunities — and have the courage to try things out.
What are you most proud of when it comes to your company’s work culture?
We’re most proud of our shared determination and persistence when it comes to our core mission: making Esbjerg an attractive city for education and student life. We face challenges together — and we tackle the task as a team, every step of the way.
