What’s the least glamorous part of working at your company?

We are honest – and of course, there are also things that are not always perfect. We work in a complex and important utility company where operations never sleep. This means there can be periods with many tasks and a fast pace. There are also systems and processes that could be more streamlined – and we are constantly working to improve them. On the other hand, we are good at standing together, supporting each other, and finding solutions when something causes trouble. And that makes a huge difference.

How do you tackle challenges you meet?

We tackle challenges by standing together, thinking holistically, and daring to be honest about what works – and what doesn’t. We have the courage to try new solutions, even if it means that we sometimes fail. We see that as part of the learning process. We place great importance on openness and psychological safety, so everyone can contribute and help find the way forward. When we share our knowledge and experiences – and dare to ask questions – we find the best solutions together.

What makes your company an exciting place for students to kickstart their careers?

DIN Forsyning is an exciting place to kickstart your career because here you become part of an organization that both thinks big and acts locally. We work with a strong focus on sustainability, innovation, and the green transition – and we have the courage to challenge conventional thinking and try new things. As a student, you get the chance to be where it happens: you take on responsibility, are involved in concrete projects, and experience a strong community where we learn from and with each other. With us, there is room to be curious, ask questions, and grow – both as a professional and as a person.

How do you celebrate successes, big or small, within your company?

We celebrate our successes – both big and small – by making it visible that we have created value together. This can be anything from a shared cake break, a recognition email, or a post on our internal platform, to bigger celebrations when a project has been successfully completed. The most important thing is that we pause and acknowledge each other’s efforts. We don’t just celebrate the results, but also the collaboration and the steps we took along the way. Because with us, it’s the community that makes the difference.

What advice would you give to students who want to work with you?

Be curious and show who you are – both through your professional focus and your values. At DIN Forsyning, we work toward a shared goal of creating value for society and our customers, and that requires knowledge, courage, responsibility, and community. Show us how you can contribute to exactly that – and how you want to learn and grow together with us. What’s the funniest or most unexpected thing that’s ever happened in the office?

We are a large company with both a headquarters and decentralized locations, so it’s hard to point to just one thing that unites us all. But one thing is certain: lots of fun and quirky things happen around us – including things we don’t all hear about.

A good example could be a December day when a group of colleagues, dressed in white disposable suits and safety helmets, walked in a Lucia procession through our office, or when we had “Football Shirt Friday” in the spring, much to everyone’s amusement.

And we must also mention our communications department – they often hit the mark with humor, both in internal posts and on Facebook. Every year, the April Fool’s prank is a recurring event – like this year, when they announced plans to release suckermouth catfish to clean our water pipes.

What informal traditions, rituals, or activities do your employees love most?

It can be difficult to name traditions that include everyone, but we have several everyday moments and shared rituals that many appreciate. A classic example is when someone leaves the rest of a cake from a meeting in “the watering hole” – our common gathering spot by the coffee machine – and colleagues spontaneously gather for a chat. We also hold a cozy Christmas celebration every year, where we hand out Christmas gifts and wish each other a Merry Christmas. In addition, we have a very active staff association that organizes everything from Friday bars and excursions to joint events and the celebration of special occasions – creating life and togetherness across the entire workplace.
