What is the tournament structure?
All teams will be divided into different groups, where everyone plays against everyone. The top two teams from each group advance to the finals!
We all know how a knockout stage works – it’s pure sudden death, where there’s no room for losses! The matches continue until we find the two teams that will battle for the gold! And the winner doesn’t just earn bragging rights over all other study programs in town – they also take home the Kongekampen trophy, which will be displayed at your educational institution!
How do I know when I’m playing?
We always announce the matches over the loudspeakers, and you can also find the tournament schedule posted or placed around the venue. Make sure to keep an eye on when your team is playing so you don’t miss a match and risk losing by walkover!
Why have a theme and an anthem?
Have you seen the videos and pictures from last year? Then you know why a theme is a must! It’s tradition for each team to have a theme, dress up accordingly, and plan an entrance march with an epic anthem/song so everyone knows what they represent! Maybe you’ll be the Avengers, ducks, sailors – or something entirely different! It creates an amazing atmosphere, so pick something you think is fun!
We encourage both participating teams and spectators to choose a theme and dress up!
Flattery – what is it?
Did you know you can flatter the referees? You can! Flattery is just our polite way of saying you can bribe your way to 1st place 😉
The referees are usually impartial – but with a little bribery and charm, you can get them on your side. Try giving them compliments, massages, food, drinks, or whatever creative idea you have (but always respect the referees’ boundaries)! The team that excels at bribing and flattering the referees gains an advantage – so bring your best bribery game!
Why do we need a team photo?
You need something that represents your team, of course! This is your chance to show everyone how awesome you and your team are – and what theme you’ve chosen! That way, everyone will know to keep an eye on you on the big day 😉
Some teams just take a group photo, while others use it as an opportunity to show off their Photoshop skills! No matter what, a great team photo is essential.
We can’t wait to see all your team pictures!
